A question that parents quite often ask themselves is whether their children have to attend training.

It is not a team sport that demands teamwork and knowing the game plan to get get selection on to the team but it is a sport for individuals competing against themselves, trying to improve each week.

On a running night there is not enough time to teach anything but the basic of skills, also some of the age managers are parents like yourselves whose knowledge of track and field events is possibly out of date or learnt in a rush.

There is nothing more demoralising for a young athlete to be fouled or disqualified during an event when they believe that they have done everything correctly.

Coaching will develop good skills and eliminate incorrect technique.

Children will pick up hints by watching others and copying and these often need to be unlearnt.

Parents, age managers and officials will learn more about events and this will help the club and the children as well.

As a club we offer training on Tuesday nights from 6:30p.m to 7:30pm.

Our training is flexible and offers coaching in an extensive range of Track and Field Disciplines. This includes;

  • Running
  • Hurdles
  • Sprinting
  • Long and Triple Jump
  • High Jump
  • Throwing Events - include Discuss and Shot Put
  • Fitness
  • And Fun.

In this time your child will learn the basics of each event from a qualified coach.

We encourage all children to use training for only then can you gain the improvement that will enable you to enjoy Little Athletics fully.
